I got mom’s attention again tonight and told her in no uncertain barks that she needs to let me start barking in my blark again … it’s been MONTHS … and that’s not in doggie time either, that’s in real human time so you can imagine how long it’s been for me in doggie time!

I’ve got lots of news to tell everybody about the things I did last summer and how much fun I had chasing those silly squirrels! Not it’s cold and snowy again and I don’t even like going outside. I went today to do my business and my little feet and tummy got so cold I could hardly get back in the house! Mom picked me up and wrapped me in a blanky until I was warm again. I HATE the snow and cold!

Last summer Mattie and me and our human sister Dede and mom went on our first road trip!  It was very exciting and mom said she couldn’t believe Mattie and me are such good little travelers! Actually the driving part was not exciting, it was just long. We went all the way to another state, I think mom said it’s called North Dakota and we went all the way to Bismarck! Mom stopped a couple of times along the way so Mattie and I could jump out of our crates and do our business and she would offer us a little water, and then we’d jump back in the crates and we’d start driving again. When we got to Bismarck we stayed at mom’s sister’s house and she has a nice big back yard that’s completely fenced so we didn’t have to be on leashes when we were outside! That was so cool! I really almost caught a silly squirrel the next morning because I wasn’t on that stooopid leash but that silly squirrel was still faster than I was and it ran right up a tree in front of me! I was always sure that I’d be able to catch a silly squirrel if I was free but those silly squirrels are a lot faster than I ever imagined! We only stayed in Bismarck for two nights and then we started home again … I was happy to be going home because I luv my home with Mattie and mom. But then mom stopped in a town called Jamestown and we met a lady there with a dog! He looked a little bit like my boyfriend Scooby Doo but he was a little taller and didn’t have so much black color. I couldn’t believe it when mom and Dede put him in the car with us! They told Mattie and me that his name was Boo Boo and he was going to have a new home in Minnesota because his mom in North Dakota didn’t want him anymore. Boo Boo told me that he is 10 years old and he’d been living with his North Dakota mom since he was a pup. I couldn’t understand why she would send him away … but Boo Boo said that last year around Christmas time his mom had given him to a shelter and he had been there about 2 months waiting for someone to adopt him. One day in February his mom had come back in to the shelter and saw that Boo Boo was still there. I guess she felt bad then for giving him away because she took him back! Boo Boo said that he was so sad about being given away that his face had turned so gray that his mom hardly even recognized him! So he lived with him mom again for awhile and then she decided to give him away again and my human sister Dede had just happened to see a picture of him and sent it to my mom. My mom has a coworker who was looking for a little dog, so she said she would take Boo Boo. So that’s why Boo Boo ended up in the car with us. When we got home, Boo Boo stayed with us for two nights and then went to his new home. Mom says Boo Boo has a very nice home with a mom who takes him to to vet when he needs to go, gets his nails trimmed every month, and buys him all kinds of new clothes for the winter. I’m glad Boo Boo has a nice home because I didn’t want him to stay with us … he tried to play with my toys and I can’t have that happening! EVER! BOL!!!  Boo Boo’s psycho North Dakota mom then changed her mind again and wanted him back! She was going to come all the way to Minnesota to get him even though she had no idea where he is. Mom said she told Dede that Boo Boo is very happy where he is and has a much better life now that he’s living with people who really love him so there’s no way that psycho lady is getting Boo Boo back just to give him away again in a few months!!

Hey, guess what … I haven’t barked in my blark for so long, I’m already getting tired! I need a little chicken stick for a bedtime snack now and then I’m going to tell mom it’s time for bed. (Yes, I’m still in control of this household and that’s just the way it’s always going to be!)

Happy New Year to all my friends and MY resolution is to make mom help me bark in my blark more often! Ok, chicken stick, ready or not, here I come!!!

07 Feb 2009 Silly Squirrels Are ALIVE

I’m just SO excited today! I’ve seen LOTS of silly squirrels running around again! I can’t wait until it gets warm enough so we can go for walks and I can catch a silly squirrel and tear it apart! Mom showed me the first two squirrels this morning … they were just sitting on the patio fence as pretty as you please and didn’t even know I was just a few feet away in the house watching them!  Mom and I were sitting on the couch together and when mom saw them, she said to me, “Look, squirrels!”. She pointed out the patio window, and being the smart Doxie I am, I looked out the window to where she was pointing … and there they were! I jumped off the couch and ran to the window and Mattie followed me and we were barking at the silly squirrels. Then mom let us out of the house and we raced through the snow barking and growling but the silly squirrels jumped off the fence and ran away! They are such cowards! I can’t believe they won’t stand and fight! I know I’m going to catch a silly squirrel this summer and tear it apart and I can’t wait!

Mom is letting me bark in my blark while she’s watching a really stupid movie. I think she said it’s called One Missed Call and mom says it’s a lot more stupid than she ever imagined it would be. She said she wished she could record it to a DVD and give it to Mutchy so Mutchy could enjoy it too!  I think she’s just teasing me about Mutchy enjoying it … she’s told me that Mutchy sometimes thinks clowns will eat her when she goes to sleep so this movie would not be a good movie for Mutchy to watch! She would have nightmares for sure and would never ever sleep again!

Mom’s going to have to give me extra chicken sticks tonight  because this movie is even too scary for her and she’s going to want me to sleep really really close to her to protect her and keep her from having bad dreams. So I’ll do that but it’s gonna cost her … I think I’ll get at least THREE extra chickens sticks … and if the movie gets any more scary, I’ll get FOUR! I love movies that scare mom! I gotta go protect her right now because the movie is becoming more frightening by the second! I’m gonna get FIVE chicken sticks!

I’ll let you know next time how many I really got before the night was over!

When we woke up this morning it was sort of cold in the house. It felt almost like it was winter already although mom says it’s not. Mom had put an extra blanket on the bed last night so we were really really warm all night and when that pesky alarm clock rang and we stuck our little heads out, it felt real cold. We don’t like cold.

Mom got up and turned some little round thing on the wall and pretty soon it started to feel warmer in the house so that was good.  Mattie and I went outside to go potty and hurried right back in the house! Then we ran up the stairs as fast as we could to get back into bed before mom got up there to ruin our blanket burrowing. We didn’t want to lay on top of the bed all day, we wanted to be under the covers so we would be warm and not cold!

Mom asked us if we wanted a little lunch before she went to that “icky job” and Mattie, as usual, jumped up and went downstairs to eat. I just stayed in bed, under the covers, and decided I wasn’t going to take any chances on mom going back upstairs while we were eating and fixing the blankets so we couldn’t crawl under them! I knew mom would give me a chicken stick before she left anyway so I wouldn’t get too hungry!

When mom got home, we went for a nice little walk. It’s really fun to zoom around in the leaves and track those silly squirrels and silly rabbits. I think there might have even been a silly fox in the field where we walk because I smelled some smells that weren’t from a silly squirrel or a silly rabbit. I wish I could have seen that silly fox! I know I would have been able to catch him and tear him apart!

Mom told me some sad news today. She said that Mutchy asked Lola if Lola wanted to do a blog bark and Lola said no! I couldn’t even believe my long ears. Why wouldn’t she want to have a blog bark like I do? We could have had so much fun doing our barks. I’m very very disappointed. Actually I think that Mutchy just doesn’t want to take the time to help Lola with her blog bark so I’m just going to blame Mutchy! I know it’s all her fault because Doxies love attention and they love blog barks! I’m SO glad my mom loves me more than Mutchy loves Lola.

I’m just going to drown my sorrows in a chicken stick. I’ll try to bark again soon when I get my spirits up again!

19 Oct 2008 Sunday Bark
 |  Category: barks  |  Tags: , , ,  | 4 Comments

I just jumped up on mom’s lap and sort of snuggled under my blanket so I can be all toasty warm and be close enough to tell her what I want to say on my Sunday blog bark.

It was a very nice weekend for Mattie and me. We got to go outside lots of times and run through the leaves. There was a silly squirrel sitting in the leaves this morning and when it saw us, it ran up the tree, but then it ran right down again! I was running and running but mom always has that pesky harness and leash on me so it’s like I’m running in slow motion and I just couldn’t get to the tree in time! The silly squirrel ran across the leaves and under the fence so we couldn’t get him! Mattie and I barked like crazy but the silly squirrel stayed on the other side of the fence so we didn’t get to catch a silly squirrel this weekend either. I was so sure that we’d get one!

Mom went to some place she called “Trader Joe’s” yesterday — of course we didn’t get to go along and had to stay home in jail — but we got a chicken stick before she left!  When mom came home, she’d brought us a treat from Trader Joe’s. It’s a beef flavored stick sort of like chicken sticks but softer and at first I didn’t think I liked it but then I saw Mattie eating hers and when she was done, she looked like she wanted to take mine too so I ate it in a hurry! I decided I did like it but it’s still not as good as a chicken stick.

So that was our weekend. I know mom has to go that “icky job” again tomorrow and Mattie and I will have to stay in jail all day. Actually jail isn’t as bad as it sounds because we just stay in mom’s bedroom all day and we sleep in mom’s bed. We’ve figured out that after mom lets us in from our morning walk and we run up the steps as fast as we can and jump on the bed, then mom doesn’t make her bed and we can snuggle under the covers whenever we want. If we don’t get up there fast enough, mom makes the bed and then I have to crawl under the pillows to sleep. Mattie crawls under a little blanket mom leaves there for her … and that’s ok too but we really like to burrow under ALL the blankets!

I hope all my friends have a great week. Check out my friend Mackenzie’s blog too. The link to her blog is on the upper left side of this page. It’s fun to have friends that have blogs! I hope Mutchy lets Lola have a blog. I’m pretty sure she will because she loves Lola just like mom loves me and Mutchy will want Lola to have fun with her blog bark too!

Chicken stick time! I’m outta here!

I don’t really know what that means but anyway that’s what mom just told us … mom’s been home with us for a few days so I suppose she’ll be going to the “icky job” again soon. I think I’m going to be sad … I’ve got an idea … maybe if I look really sad, mom will give me an extra chicken stick!

Today was a really nice day. Mattie and I got to go on two long walks and we just about caught a silly squirrel! It was sitting in the grass and didn’t see us and when we got close to it, it ran up a tree right in front of us! We were just inches away from catching it! Mattie and I were so excited we ran around in circles and I even tripped on that pesky leash and turned a somersault. We barked and barked until mom told us we had to be quiet. She just doesn’t understand that we need to bark! So we’re getting closer to catching a silly squirrel, I think we’ll catch one tomorrow for sure.

Yesterday mom left us alone again when she went somewhere she called “out to dinner”. She put us in jail, gave us our chicken sticks, shut the gate in the bedroom and went away. We were very sad and lonely. But sometimes Mattie and I are able to work together and we worked at that silly gate until we moved it enough so we could escape! We were free! We ran around the house for awhile and then we just laid on the couch waiting for mom to come home. It was really dark for a really long time before we heard her come home. We don’t like it one bit when mom is out in the dark … we really worry about her because she should be home with us when its dark! When mom came in, we were right there by the door to greet her and Mattie and I both barked with joy. Mom called us her little jail-breakers although I’m not sure what that means, but we all had our usual luv-fest so everything was okay.

Ok, it’s 9 p.m which means I need to tell mom it’s time to go to bed. I’ll do another blog bark again soon.

I need my bedtime snack … you guessed it … a chicken stick!

09 Oct 2008 The Best Night
 |  Category: barks  |  Tags: , ,  | Leave a Comment

As I’m laying under my blanket on mom’s lap tonight, I’m thinking that Thursday nights might just be the best night of our week. Mom’s workweek is done and we’ve had a nice long walk (no, I didn’t catch any silly squirrels or any silly rabbits although I saw TWO silly rabbits and one silly squirrel under a tree and Mattie and I tried to run over as fast as we could to catch them and tear them apart but mom always has those pesky leashes on us so we can never get to those silly varmints before they run away) and after our walk we had a nice lunch (but no chicken sticks … grrr).

Now we’re just doing what mom calls “flopping around the house” which means we aren’t really doing anything but just relaxing. If there’s anything that Doxies are good at, (well, besides tracking silly squirrels and silly rabbits) it’s relaxing. I’m especially good at relaxing on mom’s lap under my blanket. We’ll get to relax more tomorrow morning because after mom lets us out for a minute, we’ll all run back up the stairs to bed and we’ll get to cuddle for an extra hour or two … we all love it!

The only thing I don’t really like about Thursday nights is that there is some stupid show on tv that mom says she HAS to watch. Well, she not only watches it once, she records it and then watches it two or three more times … it’s just so silly. I think she says the show is “The Office” and I don’t know why she thinks it’s so funny because there are no dogs or any other animals in the show. MY favorite show was “The Greatest American Dog”. I loved to watch that show and I would run to the tv and jump up and down and cheer them on … I think next year mom should enter me. I know I’d win because mom always says I’m the greatest dog ever … If the first prize was a chicken stick, I’d win for sure!

Speaking of chicken sticks … I think it’s about time for me to get my mom up to get me one — or two … so that’s all for my blog bark tonight. I can’t talk while I’m chewing!

07 Oct 2008 No Squirrels Tonight

Well mom’s home after another long day but guess what … ? It’s raining again and mom’s just had her dinner (Mattie and I got a few little bits of grilled chicken which was actually better than a chicken stick) and now she’s just told me that since it’s dark out and raining we’re not going to go for a walk … I hate rain and I hate dark. I just want to go for a walk and try to catch a silly squirrel! I was so sure this was going to be the day that I would actually be able to catch one … it’s what I thought about all day — well, I thought about chicken sticks too — and I had it all planned how I was going to get one and now I don’t even get to try!

Mattie wanted to try again to catch that silly rabbit that runs across the field every time we go for a walk and hides under the shed … Mattie just about crawls under there every night trying to get at that silly rabbit but mom doesn’t let her get all the way under the shed … I think she’s afraid that Mattie will get stuck under there but I don’t think that would happen. Mattie’s pretty smart (not as smart as me of course) and I think she just wants to grab that silly rabbit and bring out so we can both tear it up!

So we’re both disappointed that we don’t get to go out and go hunting tonight. But it’s actually pretty nice just to curl up under the blanket on mom’s lap and tell her what I want to say on my blog bark. Mattie’s laying on the hammock and every time mom looks at her she wags her little tail so hard that her whole body seems to wag … mom sometimes calls her Miss Mattie Mae Moto-Tail because her tail wags like it’s motorized. I actually think that’s just dumb but Mattie seems to like it. I’m sure she’ll be jumping up on this chair pretty soon and then I’ll have to move over to make room for her. I’m going to have to make sure mom gives me an extra chicken stick if I let Mattie sit next to me …

I’m just about to tell mom that it’s bedtime … it’s good to be in charge of the household. Time for that CHICKEN STICK!
