Mattie and Kismet

Mattie and Kismet

FINALLY … Mom’s got a picture of Mattie and me to put on my blark. It’s only about 4 months too late but I’ll get over it … I still don’t have a picture of me with my little coat but mom’s promised me that she’ll take a picture of me SOON with my little coat (and maybe even my little booties … but I hate my little booties so maybe I won’t let her do that.)

Anyway, this is my stepsister Mattie right after she moved into our house. She still wasn’t sure exactly what was going on I guess because she looks a little apprehensive but she’s a lot different now! (If you click on the picture, it’ll get real big so Mattie and I are almost life-sized! That’s just so cool!)

Notice how BIG I am in this picture and how photogenic I am. I’m certainly a Doxie Princess and I’m not afraid to let anyone know it!

Still no word on what’s happening with the CHICKEN STICK shortage. I think I’m going to have to write to the President of the United States and tell him that we need some of that bailout money to fund the CHICKEN STICK people so they get back on track and make more chickens so they can make more CHICKEN STICKS!  Mom gave us Turkey Jerky for our bedtime snack last night and she thought we wouldn’t notice but we did … we didn’t say anything last night but it better not happen again! I think there are some little pieces of chicken sticks left yet because we each got a half a stick this morning when mom went to her icky job so we were ok for a little while until we started to think about it and now we’re distraught again. It’s so hard being a little dog and not knowing what’s going on with the chicken sticks!

Just one more day before Thanksgiving! Maybe we’ll get some real turkey meat for a little treat! I just know mom will give us a few little bites … I can’t wait!

23 Nov 2008 My Little Coat
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags: ,  | 6 Comments

We got to go for a little walk Saturday morning although it had snowed a little bit and was kinda cold. So when we asked to go out, mom told us it was cold out but we still wanted to go … so mom asked me if I wanted to wear my little coat. OF COURSE I wanted to wear my little coat! I LUV my little coat! It’s really colorful and it makes me look so much taller I think! So we got dressed and went out for a little walk. It wasn’t too bad even with the snow and my feet didn’t get too cold, my tummy didn’t get cold at all because I was wearing my little coat. It was nice to be dressed up and go for a little walk and still stay warm.

I remember the day my mom got my little coat for me. It was the first winter we were together after I rescued mom. She took me to a Puppymart store and I told her which little coat I wanted and she bought it for me! Then we went home and mom put the little coat on the table and we both forgot about it … that night after we’d been out for our nightly pee walk and were just about ready to go to bed, mom saw the little coat on the table and she told me that we’d forgotten to try my little coat on! I was so excited to try it on, I ran across the room to mom and flopped over on my back and thumped my tail as hard as I could on the floor. Mom had to get me to stand up so she could put the little coat on me and I just loved it so much! I ran to the door with my little coat on and stood there wagging my tail … I wanted to go outside to see how the little coat felt when I was walking outside and how warm it would be. So mom put the leash on me and we went back outside for a little while and walked around the yard and the sidewalks and I was so proud to be wearing my little coat! Then we went back into the big building and I ran right down the steps to the underground parking garage to mom’s car! (That parking garage was actually the first place I ever saw my mom when I rescued her.) I told mom that I wanted to go for a ride in the car with my little coat on so I could see how it would feel to ride around with my little coat … so, although it was almost midnight by that time, mom put me in the car and we drove around for about ten minutes so I could enjoy riding with my little coat. I’ve had so many happy times in my little coat that I just love to wear it!

So Saturday was a very good day because I got to go out and got to wear my little coat for the first time this year.  We got to go for a nice little walk again today so it was a very nice weekend for Mattie and me!

I have to bark an apology to my friend Tibby. I was calling Tibby “him” and Tibby is a “her!” I should have known because SHE is just so very cute … much to cute to be a boy dog! So when you go to Tibby’s blog, remember she’s a girl just like me!

Chicken stick update: Not much good news here. Mom went to the chicken stick place on Friday but there were NO chicken sticks at ALL! She got some turkey jerky and was trying to fool us with that a few times but Mattie and I know the difference! There’s only a small supply of REAL chicken sticks left in the little bag so I don’t know what’s going to happen if there are NO chicken sticks left in the whole world. All I can say is … it’s not going to be pretty …

I think Mattie & I will each get a piece of a chicken stick tonight so I’m going to go sit by the bag now to make sure Mattie doesn’t get a bigger piece!

20 Nov 2008 Blarking Day?
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags:  | 2 Comments

Happy Blarking Day! Bark, bark, bark, I’m so funny … I just made that up right now ’cause I think there should be a National Blarking Day so all Dogs With Blogs will have their very own Blark Day! Mom told me that yesterday was National Commode (or maybe it was Toilet) Day so having a National Blark Day can’t be any more weird than that!

Guess what? I made another new friend today. His name is Tibby and he’s got a great blog and his people seem to love him a lot just like my mom loves Mattie and Pouncer and me so he’s very lucky. Mom put a link to his blog on my blark so everybody needs to go click on the Tibby link and read his blog! (He’s awfully cute too even though he’s not a Doxie …)

Mattie and I checked out the chicken stick supply today and it looks like that little bag that mom “liberated” from another shopping cart the other day is just about empty so the situation again is becoming critical. We’re going to make sure mom gets up early tomorrow morning and goes chicken stick shopping immediately so we don’t have anxiety attacks about running out. Mom brought home some stuff about something called ‘CRU’ yesterday; she says it stands for Crisis Resource Unit and I made sure I have that phone number where I can see it … Mattie and I DO know how to use the phone and we’ll call for help if there’s a chicken stick crisis in this house!

‘k, it’s bedtime … I’ll update you on what happens with the ongoing chicken stick saga tomorrow!

18 Nov 2008 Chicken Sticks!
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags:  | 2 Comments

I wanted to blark last night but mom said my site wasn’t working so she couldn’t sign in and so I couldn’t blark. I was distraught (I learned that word from mom, it’s one of her favorite words so it must mean something cool).

Mom was telling us about a near tragic event in our lives that almost happened yesterday. Mom said it’s hard to imagine how it happened but she was almost out of CHICKEN STICKS! <gasp>  So she went to WalMart at noon, when she usually eats lunch, and tried to find a big bag of CHICKEN STICKS … there weren’t any! Mom says she was in a quonset (that’s another word she uses a lot when she’s not happy with something) and didn’t know what to do! She knew that she wouldn’t even have to bother to come home to us if she was out of chicken sticks because we could never have lived through the night without our CHICKEN STICKS! Then mom saw a cart in the puppy food aisle that was full of stuff for puppies. AND there in the cart was a small bag of CHICKEN STICKS! There wasn’t anyone around the cart so mom didn’t know if someone was shopping and had picked up those chicken sticks for another puppy or if it was someone who works in the store who was putting puppy things on the shelves. Mom decided that it was someone who works there so she quickly took the chicken sticks out of that cart and put it into her own cart! We were saved! Then mom ran to check out and went back to work! She had gotten the CHICKEN STICKS! It wasn’t a big bag like she wanted but she didn’t even care … she knew Mattie & I would not have to have a nervous breakdown that night!

We are SO PROUD of our mom and we love how much she loves us! We’re going to be sure to remind mom to find a BIG bag (or two) of chicken sticks this weekend so we don’t ever get close to being without them again. It’s just too scary. For all of us. Even mom!

And speaking of chicken sticks … well, you know the rest … !

16 Nov 2008 Mom’s Friend, Michael
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags: , , ,  | Leave a Comment

Mom was telling me tonight about one of her friends, Michael, who is very sick with throat cancer and is undergoing treatment for it. He still has lots of treatments left and he’s feeling pretty sick so mom is feeling sad for her friend. Mattie and I feel sad too when mom feels sad. I told mom to tell Michael that Pouncer, Mattie, and I want to meet him so he needs to get well so he can come over and see us sometime. Mom said she would tell him and she also said she told him about my blark so if he feels well enough, he can read it and know that we’re all thinking of him. So, if you’re reading this Michael, GET WELL!

This was a short weekend because mom had to work part of the day on Friday so we didn’t have as much time together as we usually do … we did get to go for a couple of walks even though it was sort of cold out and sometimes it was even snowing a little bit. Mattie likes snow but I hate it! My little legs aren’t tall enough to keep my tummy out of the cold grass so I get cold and wet real fast! But it was really funny this morning when mom took us for a walk … we were walking down a little hill and mom’s foot slipped on the wet grass and she fell down! It was so funny!  She even dropped Mattie’s leash and Mattie ran out on the road but when mom called her, she came right back. We were all really glad there were no cars on the street just then! Then we all just sat in the grass and laughed at our silly mom … finally mom untangled her legs (they weren’t even broken!) and we got down the hill and went back to the house. Mom was telling us about some guy on her caseload at work who was telling her a story about how some other guy attacked him (so he says but mom’s not so sure about that!) and when he was defending himself, the guy fell down a hill and was dead. So we’re really glad that didn’t happen to mom when she fell down the hill!

If anyone read my last blark about my wearing my ears inside out … I started to do it again a couple of times this weekend but mom won’t let me do that anymore. She says that’s just ‘ho-ish’ behavior and she won’t let me look like that. I don’t know exactly what that means but I guess if mom doesn’t want me to wear my ears like that I won’t do it … except during the day when she’s at that icky job and we’re home alone!! Bark, bark, bark … I think that’s just so funny! Mom doesn’t know what we do during the day so she can’t stop me!

Ok, I’m done blarking for tonight … everybody send good thoughts to mom’s friend, Michael … and I’m going to tell Mattie that she has to ask for a chicken stick!

Oops, forgot to say hi to Mutchy and Lola. I’m still waiting for Mutchy to let Lola do a blark like me!

12 Nov 2008 My Ears
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags: , ,  | Leave a Comment

I’ve been wearing my ears inside out all night and mom keeps telling me to fix them … but I like to wear them this way and I don’t think my mom should be able to tell me what to do! It’s MY life! She says it makes me look like I’ve got a ‘tude, and I don’t even know what that means, but I think she should just keep her opinions to herself and let me wear MY ears the way I want! It’s NONE of her business how I wear my ears and I’ll wear them the way I WANT! She’s not the boss of me! I HATE her! Uh oh, here she comes and she looks like she’s going to do something to my ears … STOP it mom, leave my ears alone!

Well, she flipped my ears over and she says I look much better now. Actually I guess I might even feel a little better because I’ve decided I love my mom again. I wonder why I was so mad at her a few seconds ago … I don’t even remember so I guess it wasn’t important.

So now that I feel better, I’m thinking we should go to bed soon so Mattie and I can have our good night, sleep tight, chicken sticks. But before I go, I want to tell all my friends that I found a new friend today all by myself … his name is Mr. T-Bone Beasley and he has a blog too. I made my mom read it to me and he’s a very cool blogger with a lot of interesting stories … I asked mom to put a link to his blog on my blark and she did that so everybody can read about his life with his mom who is almost as wondermus as my own mom.

Hi to Mutchy! I haven’t heard much about you for a few days except my mom said that you and she had a conversation about something today that you both decided you will never speak of again. She wouldn’t tell me what it was about so I’m just going to have to guess that it was about the “blark” … but what could it be?? I guess I’ll never know …

Mom’s headed for the chicken stick bag … gotta go!

11 Nov 2008 Veteran’s Day Blark
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags: , ,  | Leave a Comment

Mom says today is a very special day … a day in which we honor all the people who are serving or who have served in the military. Mom says that without all the veterans keeping our country safe, we wouldn’t be able to vote or go where we want to go without being afraid so we’re all very grateful to everyone who has ever been a member of the military. I would never want mom to be afraid to go to the store to get us chicken sticks so being safe is a very good thing! (I’d make mom go to the store no matter what because Mattie and I canNOT live without chicken sticks!)

Mom was home all day today and we went out for one short little walk. I don’t think mom even wanted to go out with us but about noon today, I was laying on mom’s lap and Mattie was upstairs sleeping in the bed when I decided I’d tell Mattie to ask mom to go out. So I jumped off her lap and ran upstairs and got Mattie to come down and tell mom we need to go out. I just sat on the landing of the stairs looking very innocent when mom asked me if I was the one who got Mattie up to say she wants to go out. But we got to go outside so my plan worked! It was a lot colder than I had thought it would be though and there were some little icy pellets coming down so the grass was real cold. When we had walked about a block, my left front foot got so cold I couldn’t stand on it anymore so I stopped walking and held it up; I know if I hold up one of my feet and look pathetic, mom will pick me up and carry  me. She usually puts her hand around my little frozen foot too so it gets warm again. Of course, that’s exactly what she did and she carried me most of the way back to the house! I love it when mom does that! After my foot was a little warmer again, she put me down and I ran the rest of the way to the house where it felt really warm after being outside. Guess what happened then?? You guessed it, we got a chicken stick! I love it when we get extra chicken sticks during the day!

Later in the afternoon, mom was on the computer. She’s got some kind of thing she does called “Twitter” and she asked Mattie and me if WE wanted to have a Twitter account! Of course, we said YES so now Mattie and I are on Twitter too! Our Twitter name is Kismet_Mattie and mom even put a little Twitter button on my blark so my friends will know that we’re seriously cool dogs with our own Twitter name and they can follow our updates! Go check it out and if you get a Twitter account, we’ll follow you too!

Stay tuned for more blarking another time! I think I’m going to ask for another chicken stick right now so I’ll get one now and one more when we go to bed! (Mom is such a pushover … don’t tell her that I said that though)

09 Nov 2008 Movie Weekend
 |  Category: barks  |  Tags: , , ,  | 2 Comments

Mom says the weekend is almost over and she says I’m getting lazy again (I hate it when she says things like that because I am NOT lazy … I just get so exhausted from napping that I have take another nap!) and that I need to blark in my blark tonight. So blarking it is!

It was cold and wet so Mattie and I didn’t get to go for very many walks, but we did go out for short walk this afternoon … I’ve decided mom is sort of a wuss because she thought it was real cold but Mattie and I didn’t think it was so bad and we had our “zoomers” on but didn’t get to zoom around too long because mom said we had to go in. I don’t understand why she thought it was cold, she shouldn’t be as cold as Mattie and me because she’s taller so she’s closer to the sun than we are and we weren’t really cold at all. It just makes no sense to me.

Mom did watch a couple of movies this weekend; she finally watched the movie that Mutchy loaned her, “Office Space.” Mutchy told her it was one of the funniest movies ever and mom said it was okay but it wasn’t anything like “Very Bad Things” because there just wasn’t any mutilation or murder or burying bodies in the desert and then digging them up again or trying to drown someone in a toilet so it wasn’t quite as funny as “Very Bad Things”.  I thought it was a better movie because “Very Bad Things” scared me …

Mom was home with us all weekend except for a few hours on Saturday morning when she went out to breakfast with a “friend” … I really can’t believe mom has any human friends since she has Mattie and me to be her friends so I don’t know why she even has to go out on the weekends EVER! But she did go out and when she came home she told us that she’d had some wonderful things called “Mimosas”. I have no idea what they are but she didn’t bring Mattie and Pouncer and me any Mimosas so we were mad at her for a little while. But THEN she gave Mattie and me a chicken stick so we were all done being mad at our wonderful mom … bark, bark, bark. I just have to bark out loud sometimes when I bark something so funny …

Also this weekend, I made another new friend, Happy. Happy has a blog too and I told mom to put a link to Happy’s blog on my blark. I LOVE making new friends!

Ok, we’re off to chicken stick dreamland. First we have to get a real chicken stick though … Mattie and I are starting to give mom the “stare” so she’ll get the hint.

Blarks to all my friends!

05 Nov 2008 My New Sign!

How do you like my new sign? I think it’s just SO cool and my blark is the perfect place for it! I know that it’s true that WIENERS RULE because they’ve even changed the HOLLYWOOD sign in honor of the RULING WIENER! I hope they never change the sign back to that “HOLLYWOOD” nonsense. This is just so much better!

Mom says her friend Mutchy told her that they changed the HOLLYWOOD sign to MY new sign and I’m so happy she did. It almost makes up for the fact that Mutchy won’t let Lola do a blog bark (or a blark) like me, but not quite. Bark, bark, bark. That makes me laugh because I’m just kidding … it TOTALLY makes up for Lola not doing a blark … but I’m going to tell mom to keep working on Mutchy because I know that Lola really wants a blark of her own.

Mom says the elections are over and she’s glad they are even though she didn’t get to use the Tequila Vote to vote for her candidates. She told me the Democrat won the Presidency on Tuesday but she doesn’t understand how that could have happened … she said she heard that the Democrats were supposed to vote on Wednesday so the Republican should have been elected since only the Republicans were supposed to vote on Tuesday. She thinks there’s been a mistake and someone will figure it out soon and then the Republican will be President. I don’t care who was elected as long as they don’t stop chickens from being born and turning into … you guessed it … chicken sticks!

Speaking of chicken sticks … I haven’t had one yet since mom came home. I think I need to remind her that  I need one immediately … she usually lets me have one when I start having my meltdown in the middle of the living room … It’ SO good to be in charge of the house!

Enjoy my sign … I’ll blark again soon!

03 Nov 2008 The (Tequila) Vote
 |  Category: blark  |  Tags: , , ,  | Leave a Comment

Mom got home tonight and it was a lot darker than it usually is. I don’t know what happened but I like it better when mom gets home in the light so we can go for a long walk. So tonight we just had a short walk in the dark … mom said it was really nice outside for November but I don’t know what that means, Mattie and I just enjoyed the warm (and very dark which we didn’t enjoy so much!) afternoon walk. Mom says she’s going to have to find my little “blinker” to put on my collar again now. I’m so dark that she’s afraid I’ll slip out of my harness and get away and she won’t see me in the darkness … I know if I ever see a silly squirrel while we’re out walking in the dark, I’m going to try to get away and catch it and tear it apart!

Tomorrow is something mom is calling “election day” which probably doesn’t have anything to do with Mattie and me but mom sounds like she’s really, really glad that day has finally come! She says she’s going to “vote’ in the morning … she tried to explain it to me and it sounds like if I want chicken sticks, I’m going to need to “vote” to get one. I’m going to “vote” early and often like they do in Chicago … I’ll get LOTS of chicken sticks! I think I like voting!  Mom says when she was a bartender, they would sometimes play a little game called “Tequila Vote” … the customers would start buying shots of Tequila and drinking them and mom would keep track of how many each person had and when somebody found something to vote on (like locking somebody in the bathroom or some philosophical idea), they would yell, “Let’s VOTE!” … and then each person would have the same number of votes as the number of shots of Tequila they drank! It was a Tequilaocracy! Mom’s wondering if maybe she could try a Tequila Vote tomorrow instead of a regular vote … I know I’d try a Chicken Stick Vote if anyone wanted me to vote on anything!

All this talk of chicken sticks has really gotten me hungry again … I’m going to have to try to persuade mom that it’s a good idea to go to bed now … I wonder how I can do that … I know … Let’s VOTE!

Blarks to my buddy, Mutchy!
