08 Sep 2008 Hello Fellow Dogs and Their People

Hello to my (soon to be) devoted fans! My name is Kismet. I’m a Miniature Dachshund and I’ve just started this blog bark and I hope I make many more friends. Everyone who meets me loves me instantly so I don’t think it will be hard to create a large, loyal following.

Since I come from a German heritage, I’m very industrious and hard-working. Well, maybe not so much hard-working. But I am very industrious when it comes to tracking and treeing squirrels. I haven’t been able to catch one yet since my mom keeps me on a leash which I find very frustrating and one of these days, I’m going to get away and run after one of those silly squirrels and catch it and tear it apart! I’m also going to catch a rabbit, a mouse, a rat, a bird, a muskrat, a fly, a bee, … I’m not going to catch another wasp though. I caught one once and it stung my mouth which I thought was very unsporting. I sometimes think I’d like to catch a cat too but since my mom has a cat, Pouncer, (she calls her my cousin which I think is really stupid since we don’t look one bit alike), I am tolerating the cat citizens in the community.

I have a sister, Mattie, who I’ll tell you about some other time. I like Mattie a little bit but she’s not a Doxie like me so naturally she’s not as marvelous as I am. Actually she’s my step sister and mom adopted her after I was already here so mom had to ask my permission. I was in a good mood that night so I said it was okay if Mattie lived with us and it’s actually sort of nice to have someone to spend time with on those days when mom has to go the “icky job” as she says when she leaves us in the mornings. (I don’t really know what “icky job” means but I know when mom says it that we’re going to be alone for a long time. Mom used to say that she was going to “work” but that sounded so much like “walk” that I would sometimes get very excited. “Icky job” doesn’t sound like anything that I recognize as fun so that’s what she says now whenever she has to leave the house and leave us alone.  Mom is gone about 11 hours a day … but in dog time that’s 77 hours so it’s almost an eternity until she comes home again at night.)

Okay, that’s it for my first blog bark. You can read more about me on the “About” page. I’ll have my mom do another blog bark sometime soon … right now, I need a chicken stick.
